"How would a fitness fanatic like you understand?"
I didn't grow up in an active or athletic family. In high school and college I used to eat so much chocolate that if I didn't have my fix before noon the result was a screaming withdrawal headache. I began my initial career in accounting, working in a large international firm – a sedentary job with long hours and lots of eating out. What I began to understand, though, is that how I treated my body greatly affected how I felt. I began slowly making changes to bring my lifestyle in alignment with the way I wanted to live. I began to feel better and my weight reached its natural state. In the mid-nineties I left the field of accounting after having studied fitness and exercise for several years, and became certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health Fitness Specialist® and by Wellcoaches as a Wellness Coach. Today, I don't love exercise, but I love the outcome. I am active and exercise regularly, but I'm not regimented and strict. I don't diet. I eat foods that I love. I am more fit and healthy in my forties than I was in my twenties.
